It was from the Habitation at Port-Royal near Annapolis Royal that apothecary Louis Hebert loaded a canoe with vines he brought from France and paddled to Bear River to plant a vineyard, 200 years before those planted in Ontario and 248 years before British Columbia making Nova Scotia an original wine region in Canada.
